A tour to discover the soul of Venice through its symbolic sites.
Departure 9:00 am
I will pick you up directly from your cruise ship and with a private boat taxi we will start a journey through the lagoon and canals of Venice, until we reach the Grand Canal, the "main street" of water in the city!
The boat trip along the Grand Canal, will allow us to see countless jewels of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, I will tell you the stories of the most elegant private residences of the ancient aristocracy, of the more monumental institutional buildings, and of the more surprising churches, memories of a history of greatness, and power now lost.
The water taxi will drop us off next to St. Mark's Square, the heart of the ancient "Serenissima", we will take our time to admire the Doge's Palace, the Marciana Library, the Bell Tower and the Clock Tower but above all the Basilica of St. Mark.
We will enter the Basilica with the skip the line, avoiding the long queues that are always present at the entrance and visit the interior with its 8000 mosaics, countless plaques and columns of ancient marble. I suggest that you drop by to see the "Pala d'oro" (masterpiece of medieval Byzantine goldsmithing with its almost 2000 precious stones) which is behind the main hotel and thus be able to approach the tomb of St. Mark. Then I would like to accompany you to the first floor, to the terrace for a unique view of the mosaics and also to introduce you to the "quadriga di San Marco", the original 4 horses brought to Venice from Constantinople in 1204 and then go out on the panoramic terrace and show you the whole square at our feet!
A nice walk (about 20 minutes) through the small Venetian streets will take us to the Rialto Bridge, symbol of Venice in the world, where the best Venetian "bacari" (Venetian bistros) are concentrated and where I suggest you to try a Venetian tradition par excellence: the "spritz" our aperitif based on Aperol/Campari, white wine and Seltz.
In conclusion we will return very comfortably to your cruise ship by private taxi without crowds or queues.
