The 3 Cities is a collective description of 3 fortified cities, Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua "cradle of Maltese history" that have provided a home and fortress to almost all who settled on the island. When the Emperor Charles V donated Malta to the Knights, they were quick to recognize the potential of the area thus this became their first seat in Malta.This tour offers an intriguing insight into Malta and its history as well as superb views across Valletta.
Itinerary : In Senglea view the most renowned ‘‘Gardiola’’, watch out tower, carved out of local limestone from where one dominates over Malta's Grand Harbour with stunning views across Valletta.
Then proceed toward Vittoriosa, the first seat of the Knights of St John. Our guided tour will lead you past the fortified gates towards the medieval narrow and winding streets of the town, along the most important building and Auberges of the Knights making you feel as though you stepped back in time. This is the place where one can absorb some of the local atmosphere.
Here we find the old building which used to be the Inquisitor palace nowadays an Ethnographical museum with an interesting collection of religious artefacts and history.
At the tip of the peninsula we find the oldest and most imposing Fort in Malta, Fort St. Angelo, open for viewing, spectacular views and a very impressive fortress. Viewing is recommended! Finally weather permitting we will take a typical gondola and go for a Grand Harbour Cruise.
