Start your day by visiting the most famous fishing village in Madeira - Câmara de Lobos, where it’s caught the traditional fish Espada - black scabbard fish, unique to the seas of Madeira. This village was also Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite place to relax and paint, when he visited the island and stayed at Reid’s Palace Hotel. Take the old winding road, where you can admire the agriculture fields and vineyards, to reach Cabo Girão, the highest sea cliff in Europe at 580 metres, with its Skywalk viewpoint. Continue to the highest mountains at 1000 metres before heading to Porto Moniz. There you can see or experience the natural saltwater swimming pools open all year round, the volcanic Lava pools.
