Discover with me the capital of Cyprus and Lefkara!
We will first visit the divided city of Nicosia, the biggest town, the important ancient city-kingdom of Ledra. See the Venetian Walls surrounding the old city, stroll through the folk neighborhood of 'Laiki Geitonia', walk along the pedestrian Ledra Street down to the 'Green Line'. Optionally, pass through the checkpoint control(passports are required for non-Europeans!) into the northern part and visit the Frankish Cathedral of Saint Sofia.
Then have a look at the Archaeological Museum of Cyprus to admire its treasures (richest pottery collection in the world).
Next, we will have the chance to enjoy a coffee break or lunch in the heart of the city's old quarter. In the end take a drive to the hill village of Lefkara, world-renowned for its handicrafts: lace, embroidery, silver, and unique (listed heritage)architecture. Return to base .
