We will meet on the Keyside, where your ship is docked in Bordeaux Centre. (If you are arriving from another port of call - Bordeaux -Bassens or Bordeaux -Le Verdon - we can arrange another central meeting place).
We will wind through the vibrant historic streets of Bordeaux - discovering hidden squares and charming back streets. As we wander by the city's classic landmarks & hidden gems of bygone eras, I will share with you Bordeaux's rich and dynamic history, including how it evolved around the wine trade.
The tour will zig-zag along the keyside, the Place de la Bourse, through the St. James/St Paul quarter, By the Cathedral Saint Andre, Place du Palais, Place Saint Pierre, the Place du Parlement, and ending around the Place de la Comédie. As we wander through like a local, I will introduce you to our local special pastry, the canelé for tasting and describe how it came to be.

Place de la Bourse - Historic entrance of City from the river - Statue of the 3 graces.
Grosse Cloche - Historic - Medieval Bell Tower Gate on Southern side of City - on Rue Victor Hugo
St. James/St Paul Quarter - neighbourhood between Grosse Cloche and Rue Alsace Lorraine
View of St. Andre Cathedral & Hotel de Ville - (not enough time to go inside)
Place du Palais - Historic square flanked by the historic Porte Cailhau
St. Catherine Street - Longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe
Place de la Comedie -Opera House/Grand Theater
An optional finish to the tour, we will be to visit a lovely local wine bar which serves only regional wines by the glass and rotates their offerings on a monthly basis. You many purchase any of the different wines of Bordeaux - red, white, sweet, dry & sparkling. If you are not into wine, an optional cafe stop could also be arranged.

At the docking point of your ship - (Bordeaux Centre only) Ships docked in Bordeaux-Le Verdon or Bordeaux-Bassens - an easy central location can be arranged.
It's best to wear comfortable shoes - and an umbrella if rain is forecasted.
Due to timing and being able to see as much as possible in the 3 hours - this tour includes the history of the Cathedral from the outside and if time and availability allows - just a quick 5 minutes inside.
