About this tour...
We start our nice walk through the rationalist quarter with its twentieth century buildings and the Voltian Temple, a museum dedicated to the studies carried out by Alessandro Volta during all his life. Then we start our romantic stroll among the lake and nice neoclassical villas surrounded by luxurious gardens. Among the most important we mention Villa Villa La Rotonda, owned by the Como Province Administration, one of the most elegant holiday houses of the Nineteenth century aristocracy, built by Leopoldo Pollack. Important are also Villa Gallia, the first museum of Como during Fifteenth century, Villa Parravicini and Villa Volontè, private property.
At the end we will arrive at Villa Olmo, a splendid home built at the end of the Eighteenth century by Innocenzo Odescalchi in Neoclassical style. At the front there is an Italian style garden, while at the back the villa is embellished by an English style park. Today it belongs to the town-hall of Como and it is used to art exhibitions.
